Dinner Decider

Dinner Decider - Design Exercise

Exercise Overview

Dinner Decider is a meal planner that uses a list of pre-inputted meals by the user to create a meal plan. The app will then randomly choose the meals to craft a week(s) worth of meals for the user to plan their shopping trip. Any meal previously chosen will not be selected in subsequent weekly plans until all available meals have been exhausted, thus reducing meal fatigue from the overuse of selecting the same meals over and over.

Users can modify the list to suit their needs. They can set limits for what the app chooses, like only having Mexican food once per week or always having at least two salads per week. A user can have the app plan out for a week or multiple weeks.

This idea came from shopping during the pandemic. To limit exposure, my family went shopping every other week; thus, we needed to plan out for 14 days. I noticed how we would repeat meals regularly just due to forgetting what we had done previously. As such, the idea of an app that took meal planning and decision and merged them.
